As on Earth

We were laying on an altar, hand in hand, side by side.

But somewhere in our hearts, a serpent whispered lies.

We were meant to build a kingdom, under heaven’s open skies.

Now we’re casting stones at brothers, blinded by out pride.

In the shadow of our beliefs, we forgot why we’re here.

We fight in the name of love, but love is nowhere near.

We’re tearing down the temple in the name of pride.

Fighting one another with no mercy in sight.

This cause was meant to unite us, but now we’ve gone astray.

When did we lose our way?

We were singing the same songs, with tongues as sharp as knives.

Washed in the same river, yet forgetting how we thrive.

What is gained from this division? What’s the cost of every tear?

In the face of real love, there should be no room for fear.

At the end of it all, we’re all the same in His eyes.

But we’re building up walls, we were meant to despise.

We’re tearing down the temple in the name of pride.

When did we lose our way?

We’re tearing down the temple, brick by holy brick.

Running swords through our brothers, that we’re supposed to lift.

The light that should be in us, is dimmed by bitter flames.

Yet we’re doing this in His name.

By the light of grace, we’re discovering why we’re here.

We’re learning to embrace each other, and let love draw us near.

We’re building the temple, laying down our pride.

Reaching for each other, we love bold inside.

This cause will always unite us, and guide us when we stray.

In Him we’ll find our way.
